Our Mission

At Nyisal Hostel, we provide children from remote Nyisal village in Upper Dolpa with a loving home, food, shelter, education, and cultural learning in Kathmandu—helping them grow in knowledge, identity, and hope.

We are also working to create a sustainable source of income through small businesses to support the hostel’s long-term future.

Why We Exist

Nyisal is a small Himalayan village in Upper Dolpa, where access to education, health care, and basic facilities is extremely limited. To break this cycle of hardship, we brought 13 children to Kathmandu - offering them opportunity without letting them lose their culture. Every child in our care carries the dreams of a forgotten valley - and we are here to guide them toward a brighter, self-reliant future.

What We Do

For each child, we ensure:

Safe, nurturing accommodation
Admission to Shree Janakalyan School in Kathmandu
Daily meals, clothes, and school supplies
Medical care and emotional support
Tibetan language and cultural education

It takes just $1,000 a year to fully support one child. That's $85 a month - covering:

Rent and utilities
School fees
Food and clothes
Learning materials
Cultural programs

Every rupee you give goes directly to the children. We are fully community-funded and volunteer-run.

Education

At Nyisal Hostel, we believe education is the foundation for a brighter future. Our children attend Janakalyan School in Kathmandu, where they receive quality instruction and all-round academic support. We work closely with the school to ensure each child not only thrives in the classroom but also develops discipline, curiosity, and confidence. Alongside their formal studies, we help preserve their unique cultural identity and values—empowering them to shape their own paths with pride and purpose.

Accommodation

Nyisal Hostel offers more than just a roof—it’s a second home for our students. We provide a safe, clean, and caring environment where every child feels protected, supported, and valued. With healthy meals, a structured daily routine, and a loving caretaker, we make sure our children have the stability and comfort they need to thrive—both emotionally and academically.
